Jugokan Aikido Club, St Paul's Aikido Club & Shoshinkan Schools of Tomiki Aikido hosted a seminar at St Paul's School Barnes Saturday 30th April & Sunday 1st May under the instruction of Takeshi Inoue 6th Dan.
Takeshi Inoue covered both the koryu dai ichi and the koryu dai san, as Inoue Sensei was involved with the developement of the koryu no kata it was good to see the original techniques that Tomiki Sensei and Ohba Sensie developed
Takeshi Inoue started Aikido under the instruction of Tomiki & Ohba Sensei from the age of nine and was resident aikido instructor in the UK in the late 1960's to the mid 1970's.
Shoshinkan was represented by Sensei Shaun Hoddy, Sensei Greg Barton, Sempai Alan Cooper, Hayley Wood and Nick Blackwell.
Other old friends who attended were Fritz Van Gulik and his club from The Hague in Holland. Bob Johnson was one of the original Yawara/Jugokan members who now lives in Norway.
It was good to see that Winchester Collage Aikido club attend. Winchester Collage Aikido Club practise Yoshinkan Aikido.

Koryu Dai Go Seminar
Shoshinkan Schools of Tomiki Aikido was host to a Koryu Dai Go seminar on Saturday 3rd September.
This event was well attended by various Tomiki based associations and clubs.
In attendance were Sensei Steve Billett 4th Dan ADS & Sensei Ann Billett 2nd ADS who brought members of the Aikido Development Society and Sensei Jim Dempster 1st Dan BAA & Sensei Mark Hayes Watkins 1st Dan BAA of the British Aikido Association.

Junior Aikido Competition Saturday 1st October
Saturday 1st October saw junior members from Shoshinkan Schools of Tomiki Aikido Gowa-Ryu Aikido club Ashford and Deal Aikido club take part in the invitational junior aikido competition at Waterside Farm Sports Centre Canvey Island Essex.
All the competitors showed outstanding sportmanship with medals being awarded to each group.
Many thanks go to the referee's recorders and time keepers who gave up their time freely these being Shaun Hoddy, Greg Barton, Jim Dempster, Paul O'Connell, Les Smith and Pascal Knaapen.

MASTARR Coach Education Courses
Andy Wisbey 2nd Dan, Paul O'Connell 2nd Dan, Les Smith 1st Dan, Michelle Smith 1st Dan attendend the MASTARR coach education course at the Palms Hotel Hornchurch on Saturday 29th October 2005.
The Courses covered were Coaching & Instructing, CIEH Health and Safety, Child Protection, HSE First Aid.
Shoshinkan Schools of Tomiki Aikido and the Zen Eikoku Aikido Renmei has a policy of providing free coach training to Dan grades who help with the running of the group.
Zen Eikoku Aikido Renmei Koryu Dai Roku Course
The Zen Eikoku Aikido Renmei division of the British All Styles Aikido Associations held an open Koryu Dai Roku Seminar on Saturday 3rd December 2005.
The tutor for this course was Sensei Shaun Hoddy 6th Dan Zen Eikoku Aikido Renmei, 5th Dan European Aikido Association JAA, 1st Dan Taiho-Jutsu assisted by Sensei Greg Barton 4th Dan Zen Eikoku Aikido Renmei.
Both Sensei Shaun Hoddy and Sensei Greg Barton were long term students of Dr Lee Ah Loi 7th Dan Aikido, 7th Dan Jodo, 7th Dan Iai-do and were privelaged to have been taught the various Koryu No Kata of Tomiki Aikido by a direct student of Kenji Tomiki & Hideo Ohba the founders of the Tomiki System of Aikido.
The course was well supported with members of the Aikido Developement Society led by Steve Billett 4th Dan ADS, Gowa Ryu Aikido Club BAA led by Jim Dempster and members of the Zen Eikoku Aikido Renmei, also in attendance was Zac Newton 3rd Dan Aiki-Budo Fraternity and his Traditional Aikido members.
The Zen Eikoku Aikido Renmei is also organising a winter School in Newry Co Down, Northern Ireland on January 28th & 29th 2006

Sensei Shaun Hoddy 6th Dan Zen Eikoku Aikido Renmei, 5th Dan European Aikido Association JAA was guest instructor at the seminar organised by Mal O’Connor 1st Dan at the Antrim Forum Sports Centre Northern Ireland Saturday 28th January
The theme of the course was the Koryu Dai Ichi Kata. Students from the Zen Eikoku Aikido Renmei, BAA, NIAA were in attendance also present was Olegas Gajosinskas from the Latvian Aikido Association.
The English attendees were so impressed with the Antrim Forum Sports Centre as all we are used too in England is funding being taken away from sport and leisure.
It was agreed that Sensei Shaun Hoddy will make regular visits to Northern Ireland to conduct seminars and gradings.
Japanese Martial Arts Weekend
Sensei Shaun Hoddy 6th Dan Zen Eikoku Aikido Renmei BASAA, 5th Dan EAA/JAA and Sensie Greg Barton 4th Dan Zen Eikoku Aikido Renmie BASAA were guest instructors Japanese Martial Arts Course organised by the Aiki-Budo Fraternity March 11th & 12th.
Zen Eikoku Dan grades who also attended were Andy Wisbey 2nd Dan (Coach) and Alan Cooper 1st Dan.
Senior students who attended were Richard from the Canvey Dojo and Des & Ian from the Southend Dojo.
The students who attended were able to try various Martial Arts systems these being AikiJutsu Daitokan, (John Rogers 7th Dan) Jujutsu weapons (John Strode 7th Dan) Judo BZJF (Gordan Lawson 6th Dan) Aikido ABF (Chris Moslin 6th Dan) Jujitsu Yawara Ryu ( Pat Drake 6th Dan) Ninjutsu Fuma Ryu (Shihan Adam Richardson) Aikibudo (Steve Mitchell 4th Dan)
Sensei Chris Moslin is looking at arranging a summer school if the dates and times fit around our annual vacation Zen Eikoku Tomiki Aikido Renmei will offer to be a part of this event.
Shidokan Aikido Course Sheffield March 2nd, 3rd, 4th
Members of the Zen Eikoku Tomiki Aikido Renmei attended the Shidokan Aikido course at the English institute of sport Sheffield, these were Shaun Hoddy, Andy Wisbey, Tony Parker, Alan Cooper, Alan Storie, Richard Evans Shoshinkan Dojo and Brendan Gunn from St Mary's Dojo Northern Ireland.
The senior instructor for the course was Fumiaki Shishida 8th Dan JAA Shihan assisted by T Kobayashi 6th Dan.
The Shidokan is a newly formed division of the JAA that teaches Aikido in the traditional Waseda way.

Zen Eikoku Tomiki Aikido Renmei Northern Ireland
The Zen Eikoku Tomiki Aikido Renmei Northern Ireland hosted a Koryu Dai Ichi seminar Saturday 23rd June at the Queens University Belfast. The course tutor for this event was Shaun Hoddy 6th Dan ZETAR/BASAA 5th Dan EAA/JAA. It was good to see that students from the BAA, Shodokan NIAA and ZETAR NI used this event to build bridges and renew friendships.
ZETAR NI hope to build on this course and hold regular courses in the future.
Members from Sensei Hoddy's Dojo Shoshinkan who attended were Sensei Paul O'Connell 2nd Dan, Sempai Alan Cooper 1st Dan, Richard Evans 1st Kyu and Nick Blackwell 2nd Kyu. ETAF Shidokan Aikido Course Sheffield
Saturday 18th & Sunday 19th August the ETAF Shidokan played host to a Koryu No Kata course at the English Institute of Sport Sheffield.
Course tutor was Dr Lee Ah Loi 7th Dan Aikido Shihan JAA Shidokan, 7th Dan Iaido ZNKR, 7th Dan Jodo.
Dr Lee covered the weapons section of the Koryu Dai San and the Koryu Dai Ichi. She also taught a session of Jodo which proved very interesting as it showed the relationship between Tomiki Aikido & Jodo. Zen Eikoku Tomiki Aikido Renmei was represented by Sensei Shaun Hoddy, Sensei Greg Barton & Sempai Alan Cooper.
Dr Lee is now based in Perth Australia both Shaun Hoddy & Greg Barton were both members of Dr Lee Ah Loi's Club for many years.
Koryu Dai San Jo No Tsukai & Tachi tai Tachi
The Zen Eikoku Tomiki Aikido Renmei in association with the Aikido Development Society held a Koryu Dai San Seminar at the Shoshinkan Dojo Waterside Farm Canvey Island Essex. The course tutors were Shaun Hoddy 6th Dan ZETAR, ADS and Greg Barton 4th Dan ZETAR, ADS.
The seminar was attended by members of the British Aikido Association led by Jim Dempster, The Aikido Fraternity traditional Aikido led by Zac Newton, Aikido Development Society led by Steve Billett, European Tomiki Aikido Federation led by Tony Russell Ward.

Northern Ireland Zen Eikoku Tomiki Aikido Renmei Koryu No Kata Seminar.
Queens University Belfast played host to a Koryu No Kata weekend seminar on Saturday 26th & Sunday 27th January.
The seminar tutor was Shaun Hoddy 6th Dan ZETAR, ADS. The content of the course on Saturday 26th was the weapons section on the Koryu Dai Roku. Sunday 27th the Koryu Dai Yon ( Nage No Kata). Most Tomiki/Shodokan clubs in Northern Ireland were in attendance.
Also in attendance was Jack Voss 3rd Dan JAA and his students. Jack's club is based in Donegal in the Irish Republic. Members from the Shoshinkan Dojo Essex were Paul O'Connell 3rd Dan ZETAR, Richard Evans 1st Kyu who happens to be Jack Voss's brother in law and Wendy Hoddy 1st kyu our passport and paperwork holder.
Thanks to Brendan Gunn 3rd Dan for organising such a good weekend event including evening entertainment at a tapas bar Friday and Sukura on Saturday Night.
Koryu Dai San Course
The Zen Eikoku Tomiki Aikido Renmei hosted a Koryu Dai San Course featuring the Tanto Dori, Tachi Dori and Jo Dori sections of the Koryu Dai San (Koryu No Goshing Kata) on Saturday 1st March at Waterside Farm Sports Centre Canvey Island.
Course tutors were Shaun Hoddy 6th Dan ZETAR, ADS, BAB, 5th Dan EAA,JAA
and Greg Barton 4th Dan ZETAR, ADS, BAB.
The course was attended by Steve Billett 4th Dan and his members from the ADS, John Grimmer 3rd Dan and Clare with their members from Mitchum Aikido Club, Zac Newton 3rd Dan Traditional Aikido Aiki Budo Fraternity.
This is the first time that John & Clare have attended a ZETAR course. We hope that this is the beginning of a new relationship with John affiliating his club to Zen Eikoku Tomiki Aikido Renmei.

Shoshinkan Schools of Tomiki Aikido was played host to Sensei Paul Wiffen 2nd Dan So Hombu Shin Ju Kai Singapore Thursday 17th & Saturday 19th July.
Sensei Paul Wiffen was a former Student of Shaun Hoddy & Greg Barton at the Essex Tomikikai Basildon.
Paul moved from the UK to live & work in Singapore 12 years ago. Due to there being no Tomiki Aikido in Singapore Paul converted to Aikikai under the direction of Sensei Philip Lee 6th Dan.
Shoshinkan members wish Paul well for his forthcoming 3rd Dan Exam in September 2008.
